The Theory
Weeks before announcing the OREO and Star Wars partnership, we spread a playful conspiracy theory: that OREO cookies had been hidden throughout the Star Wars films.
We enlisted Josh Gad, actor and Star Wars super fan, to help spread the theory to his 1.3 million Instagram followers.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the theory, and it was even confirmed by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. That makes it official, right?
And if Mark’s endorsement wasn’t enough to convince you, we created a Tumblr page that compiled all the Star Wars OREO evidence in one place.
We re-skinned OREO’s existing Tumblr blog and created over 100 unique images, GIFs, and text posts to bring the conspiracy rabbit hole to life.
The Pack
Each pack contains either dark side cookies with red creme or light side cookies with blue creme. You won’t know which side you’re on until you open your pack!
The pack art was hand-painted by Greg Hildebrandt, the artist behind one of the iconic original theatrical posters for Star Wars (1977).
The Launch
The partnership was officially revealed in May 2024 on OREO’s socials and garnered 1 million impressions and engagements in 24 hours.
Plus, Josh Gad learned that he’s on the dark side.
Star Wars OREO was featured in top-tier outlets including People, Hypebeast, Food & Wine, and Nerdist. We even got a shout-out from Late Night with Seth Meyers.
